Mercedes-Benz GLE hybrid crossover specs publishedOctober 17, 2018
As early as next year (most likely in the middle – approx. Edition), the German automaker can present a hybrid version of its crossover Mercedes-Benz GLE, which will receive a rather capacious battery.
According to official data, on only one electricity, the car will be able to travel a distance of 100 km (measurements were taken in full accordance with the current WLTP cycle).
Ola Kellenius, a member of the board of the German automotive concern Daimler AG, which includes the Mercedes-Benz brand, said: “Now we are equipping hybrid cars with rechargeable batteries that will allow us to drive 50 km on one electricity. The GLE crossover will be our first car that can increase this figure to 100 kilometers.”
Currently, the Mercedes GLE 550e is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 8.8 kWh – this is enough to overcome the 13 km path in electric mode. Thus, in order to increase the autonomy of this driving mode, brand engineers must develop 27 kWh batteries. From mid-2016, the German manufacturer sold only 1,457 copies of the GLE 550e crossover in the United States.
