Mercedes-Benz first published a photo of EQSMay 26, 2020
The S-Class gets the all-electric equivalent: EQS. Mercedes-Benz has released the first image of the top model.
This year, Mercedes-Benz will remove the curtain from its top-end electric model: EQS. The car, which began its life at the IAA in 2019 in the form of a promising futuristic EQS concept, has already appeared several times in a “camouflage suit”. This time, however, it is Mercedes-Benz that displays the car.
Although the EQS seems to be becoming the electric brother of the new S-Class, for Mercedes-Benz the model is of great importance. In essence, the S-Class and EQS will be completely different cars. This means that Mercedes-Benz will promote its top-end electric model, unlike the EQA and EQC, which are easily recognizable from the outside as GLA and GLC, respectively. The EQS will be built on the basis of MEA2, a modular electrical platform that is larger than the upcoming MRA platform for the new S-Class for electric vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz also does not make a standard sedan from the EQS, as it will be with the new S-Class. The newcomer looks like a massive four-door coupe with a steep sloping roof line. The Vision EQS, a concept car preceding the EQS, had an estimated range of approximately 700 kilometers. The first copies of EQS are planned to be built this year in accordance with the initial schedule.
