Mercedes-Benz EQS luxury electric sedan debuts in FrankfurtSeptember 10, 2019
The German automaker introduced the next model of its EQ family of electric cars, which will be the most luxurious in the lineup.
Mercedes-Benz engineers have already started testing the new items, but the model has so far appeared only in the form of a concept. It is known that the car is created on a completely new platform, which is designed exclusively for electric cars. The platform is modular and will form the basis of about 5 new products. Universality, in particular, has been achieved thanks to the materials used in the “trolley”: a combination of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber.
Like the EQC and EQV, the EQS concept received a Panamericana glass radiator grille that blends with the smooth contours of the chassis. The rear optics are made of elements in the form of a three-beam star. The interior of the model is made in a futuristic style, underlined by a huge central screen, a glass dashboard and a rectangular steering wheel. But of course this is a concept car, so expect the serial EQS to have a more realistic approach to cab design.
The assembly of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is planned to be established at the company’s factory in Stuttgart – in the same place where the production of the new S-Class is organized. This approach is fully justified: the company notes that it is almost impossible to predict the wishes of the client in 3-5 years.
The serial version of the model will be offered in several versions with indices from 350 to 600. With a high degree of probability, the car will be equipped with motors from the EQC crossover, including a pair of electric motors with a total capacity of over 400 hp.
