Mercedes-Benz has launched a commercial for the EQC electric off-road vehicle. The video sequence was combined with the premiere of the new song Blinding Lights by Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye, performing under the pseudonym The Weeknd.
The German automaker was able to organically show the history of Mercedes-Benz in retrospect, enlisting the support of the popular North American artist The Weeknd. Thus, the EQC advertisement is not just a visualized narration about the new model, but a music video designed for a wide audience.
The new promotion format for the Mercedes-Benz EQC was selected as part of the Enjoy Electric campaign aimed at popularizing electric vehicles. Experts already call the advertisement for the Stuttgart electro-crossover, along with the touching clip Audi RS, dedicated to the release of the new RS6 in the North American market, the best automotive advertising of 2019.
The electric crossover Mercedes-Benz EQC entered the market in May this year. The SUV drives a 408-horsepower (760 Nm of torque) power plant consisting of two electric motors. The car can accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.1 seconds and drive 445-471 kilometers on a NEDC cycle without recharging.
