Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe will not receive V8 enginesMay 30, 2020
The German automaker will leave the most powerful version of the E53.
It became known that Mercedes-AMG does not plan to release the E 63 version for the restyled coupes and E-class convertibles. Flagship versions of this line will be modifications E 53.
Recall that a few years ago at Mercedes-Benz it was considered a mistake to not offer modifications to the E-Class coupe and convertible E 63, which are available for sedans and station wagons of the previous generation. However, on current models, the most powerful modification for two-door is E 53 with V6 under the hood.
Motor Trend reported that AMG product manager Kamelia Brodner said that the two-door Mercedes-Benz E-Class will not receive V8 engines even after the current restyling. The E 63 badge will only appear on updated station wagons and sedans, and for the coupe and convertible, the most powerful will be the E 53 versions.
The German company is confident that for the two-door E-class and enough V6, and for fans of V8 there are other models. However, restyled coupes and station wagons will be equipped with the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which will include a sports steering wheel, red calipers, as well as a special drift control mode. Hybrid modifications will also be unavailable for the E-class, because the demand for them will be low, and the battery will occupy a lot of space in the trunk.
