Concern Daimler presented at the defense exhibition Eurosatory 2018 in Paris a new version of the Mercedes-Benz G-series, designed for the military, according to the Internet portal Jane’s 360. Instead of a full body SUV, the Mercedes-Benz MRV 6.2 is equipped with a light superstructure with “bucket” security.
The abbreviation MRV stands for Multi Role Vehicle. The entire mechanical part is borrowed from a lightweight Mercedes-Benz LAPV 6.1 armored car with a 4×4 wheel arrangement. This chassis G461 with a wheelbase of 3428 millimeters, three-liter diesel V6 3.0 power of 185 horsepower, interlocked with a five-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer gearbox.
The main differences from the usual “civil” G-class off-road vehicles are the portal bridges, which allowed to increase the ground clearance from 245 to 412 millimeters. Similar bridges are used on extreme “civilian” versions of Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 and Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4²
Reinforced suspension – with two shock absorbers per wheel. Used wheels with a landing diameter of 18 inches and clamps “badlocks”, which protect the tires from being disassembled. The diesel engine is adapted to long-term operation on low-grade fuel.
SUV MRV 6.2 has a length of more than 5.5 meters and a height of more than 2.1 meters (with tilt roof). The board can accommodate up to six people. The payload is up to 3000 kilograms. The depth of the ford being overcome is up to one meter.
Optional for the machine offers anti-bullet booking of the lower body and armor plate under the bottom. It is possible to install different types of bodies and superstructures. According to representatives of Daimler, the machine is fully ready for mass production.
