The largest and most luxurious electric car of the company Mercedes-Benz will appear in 2020 after the “green” crossover and hatchback
The company Mercedes-Benz has begun testing a large luxury electric car, which will become the flagship model of the “green” line of EQ. Spy photos of the test prototype novelties published by the publication Carscoops.
It is assumed that the electric vehicle, which will appear in 2020, will receive the designation EQ S. Judging by the pictures, the electric car will have very short front and rear overhangs, a falling roofline, large front doors and a wide windshield.
According to preliminary data, the designers will apply a number of unique stylistic solutions on the flagship EQ, thanks to which the car can be easily distinguished from the next-generation S-Class sedan. While it remains unclear which type of body will receive the Mercedes-Benz EQ S. The camouflaged prototype has a body “Shooting Brake”, however it can be a special “fake element”. It is possible that the production car will be a “four-door coupe”.
The first representative of the “green” line of EQ will be the crossover Mercedes-Benz EQ C, which debuts in October at the Paris Motor Show. Its prototype was equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 300 kW (408 hp), located on the front and rear axle. The crossover is capable of accelerating from place to 100 km / h in less than five seconds.
Thus, the dynamic performance of the electric car is close to the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. Thanks to a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 70 kWh, the crossover can travel up to 500 kilometers without recharging. Then “Mercedes” will release a compact electric car, which will receive the designation EQ A.
