Mercedes-AMG will show its powerful new items at the Goodwood Festival of SpeedJuly 4, 2019
After an advertising campaign that began last year, the Mercedes-AMG A45 “charged” hatchback was finally shown to us. It will be presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, along with the powerful CLA 45 coupe. These models will be presented in a more powerful S-version.
With an aggressive front grille with a dozen vertical slats and four exhaust tailpipes at the back, you can immediately say that cars with 45 indexes are very different from 35-approx. A spoiler appeared on the roof of the hatchback and sedan, and throughout the body there are a couple of more aggressive elements.
Standard versions of the A45 and CLA 45 come standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the S-version models have 19-inch kits.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the highlight of these cars is the newly developed turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The 2.0-liter unit, code-named “M139”, produces 382 horsepower and 480 Newton meters of torque in the standard version and an impressive 416 hp. and 500 Nm in S-performance. In all cases, the engine is connected to an 8-speed “automatic” with double clutch and 4Matic + all-wheel drive system.
A45 hatchback needs 4.0 seconds smoothly to accelerate to 100 km / h, and the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h. A45 S will complete the sprint in 3.9 seconds. The CLA 45 is one-tenth of a second slower than the equivalent A45, due to a bit more weight. In other words, the standard CLA 45 does the sprint in 4.1 seconds, and the CLA 45 S in 4.0 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to the same 250 km / h.
