Mercedes-AMG will present the GT R in the back of a roadster in GenevaMarch 4, 2019
Almost three years after the release of the GT R Coupe, Mercedes-AMG finally decided to show the version of the car in the back of a roadster. The presentation will take place at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new GT R Roadster is just as fast as the regular Mercedes-AMG GT R. The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h takes 3.5 seconds, and this is despite the fact that the roadster is heavier due to the mechanism for folding / unfolding the roof.
The novelty has a top speed of 317 km / h – which is 1.61 km / h less than the coupe version.
At the heart of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster is the familiar 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 577 hp. power and 700 Nm of torque. Also from the usual GT R inherited 7-speed gearbox with double clutch with a longer first gear and a shorter seventh for a faster response to acceleration.
The roadster has a rear wheel drive system to make it more flexible. The wheels are sent in the opposite direction to the front, at speeds up to 100 km / h, to make the roadster more maneuverable in turns. When you exceed this speed, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front ones to increase stability and help the driver to change the direction of movement of the car faster.
Information about the prices of the novelty has not yet been disclosed, but, of course, the roadster will cost a little more. Mercedes-AMG will present the new GT R roadster at the Geneva Motor Show.
