Mercedes-AMG will make the new GT hybridSeptember 16, 2019
The high-performance brand said it intends to launch a series of “hot” hybrids tuned by Mercedes-AMG. Among them will be the four-door version of the GT.
. Moreover, versions from AMG will receive fully electric versions. This was announced by the head of AMG Tobias Moers, speaking at the Frankfurt Motor Show. He emphasized that the new GT should become one of the most important models in the hybrid segment.
“Like everyone else in the automotive industry, we must transform. The next generation of cars will be high-performance hybrids. The four-door GT will be the first, ” – he said.
Currently, the Mercedes-AMG GT in the four-door version comes with a 48-volt hybrid system that uses a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine and an electric starter-generator, which increases power by 21 hp, and acceleration dynamics up to 100 km / h improves to 4.4 seconds.
According to rumors, the hybrid GT will be introduced in 2020 or 2021. Under its hood, a twin-turbocharged V8 engine will be installed. AMG is expected to take the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid hybrid system as a benchmark for performance. As a result, the hybrid GT will develop more than 650 hp. The dynamics of acceleration from zero to 100 km / h will be about 3 seconds.
