Mercedes-AMG teaser on the electrified GT 73December 28, 2019
With a capacity of about 800 horsepower, this electrified sedan will provide a very decent dynamic performance. The official presentation of the new items is expected next year, and the start of sales is scheduled for the second half of 2020.
Mercedes-AMG celebrates the end of this year with the release of a special video that ends with a teaser for that car, the official presentation of which will be held in 2020. To accelerate the onset of the new year, the upcoming GT 73 “goes far” from the camera with the message “We determine the future of performance.”
The GT 73 is supposed to be the production version of the original AMG GT Concept and will be the new model in the high-performance Mercedes-AMG line. Under the hood there will be a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that will work with an additional electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The battery should be capacious enough to provide the new product a few tens of kilometers in fully electric mode.
This power plant is reported to produce about 800 horsepower, which will be a good “step forward” compared to the existing GT 63 S rated at 630 hp. The gearbox is likely to be an improved version of the existing nine-speed automatic.
With a significant increase in power over the GT 63 S, the performance of the new GT 73 should also get better. According to rumors, it will take about two seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. High-tech all-wheel drive system should provide sufficient traction when passing high-speed turns.
It is unclear when the GT 73 will be officially unveiled – the show is scheduled for 2020, but there is no exact date yet. Rumors tell us that we can see the new product at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and sales can start in the second half of next year. There is no doubt that the price of the new model will be clearly higher than the one at which the GT63 S is now offered – $ 161,200
