Mercedes-AMG introduced the “stretched” version of the powerful A35 sedan.April 16, 2019
The German novelty received not only increased wheelbase, but also extra power. Mass production will be arranged at the JV of the German concern Daimler and the Chinese company BAIC.
It was almost a year ago, when the German brand Mercedes introduced the A-class sedan in a “stretched” performance (with an increased wheelbase), the car was intended for the Chinese market. As part of the Shanghai Motor Show, the same guys showed a more powerful version of this car. A global modification of this model was introduced a couple of weeks ago.
The car, called the A35L, has a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, which is 60 mm longer than the usual A-class sedan. This leads to an increase in legroom for rear passengers.
Like the usual A35, the stretched version of the German model is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a power of 302 hp and a torque of 400 Nm. Power is distributed to all four wheels through the 4Matic four-wheel drive system, which is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Mercedes-AMG A35L takes only 4.9 seconds to complete acceleration to 100 km / h, the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.
The novelty will be built in China at the joint venture plant of the Daimler concern with the Chinese company BAIC, the production of the regular version of the extended sedan, as well as the “stretched” versions of the C- and E-Class L models, as well as the GLA and GLC crossovers are also established. Well, the powerful engine for the Mercedes-AMG A35 will be shipped from the plant in Köléde, Germany.
