Hybrid power plant Mercedes-AMG, created on the basis of a four-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The total output of the units is 805 horsepower
Head of Mercedes-AMG, Tobias Moers, in an interview with Digital Trends publication confirmed that the company intends in the future to present commodity 805-strong version of the hybrid power plant. She made her debut on the prototype Mercedes-AMG GT Concept last spring.
At the heart of the hybrid installation of the concept car lay a four-liter bi-turbo V8. It was supplemented by an electric motor located on the rear axle of the sedan and a set of light and super-powerful batteries. Thanks to this, the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept could accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds.
The detailed characteristics of the batteries and the power reserve of the prototype were not announced. The company only indicated that they are “impressive.” According to preliminary information, engineers plan to almost completely keep the specification of the conceptual installation in its serial analogue.
The prototype Mercedes-AMG GT Concept became a harbinger of a production model called the GT 4-Door Coupe. The four-door has also received a hybrid powerplant, which included a turbo V6 engine with a power of 435 horsepower (520 Nm), a nine-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor installed between these units, which produces 22 horsepower and 250 Nm.
