According to rumors, the German automaker’s engineers are working hard to unveil an even more powerful version of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series sports coupe, so that this car could set an all-time record at the Nurburgring racetrack, becoming the fastest production car.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was officially unveiled exactly a month ago, so you might be wondering why the prototype of this model is still shrouded in camouflage. That’s a good question, and the Fastabast Taxi Experience of the Nürburgring claims to know the answer.

Mercedes-AMG is believed to be trying to set a new Nürburgring lap record for the fastest production car.

It is reported that in the final stages of development, the Black Series prototype covered a full circle of the track in 6 minutes 58 seconds. However, the guys from the sports brand were not completely satisfied with the results of this race and continued to bring the car to perfection.

Which brings us to these spy shots taken by Fastabast taxi officials in one of the garages on the track. The revised front splitter is reportedly part of a new aerodynamic body kit that AMG is working on to help the car reduce lap times by a few seconds. According to other rumors, the Black Series was able to overcome the North Loop in about 6 minutes 40 seconds, although we are still skeptical about this, since an improvement of 18 seconds seems to be a very good result.

Interestingly, the flat crankshaft 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine also received a power increase from 120 to 150 horsepower, which would eventually bring the total output to 850 horsepower. If the announced time of 6:40 is accurate, the Black Series will become the fastest production car in the history of the Nürburgring, ahead of the Italian supercar Lamborghini Aventador SVJ at 6 minutes 44.97 seconds.

Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the updated Mercedes-AMG S63 will receive an 800-horsepower plug-in hybrid engine. According to German profile media reports, the most powerful version of the new generation S-class executive sedan will receive the designation Mercedes-AMG S63 EQ Performance 4Matic +.
