Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Edition 1 with 630-hp presentedMay 8, 2018
The German manufacturer unveiled the top version of the “charged” four-door coupe.
The version of Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Edition 1 will be available for 12 months from the start of the model sales. It is based on the most powerful modification of the GT 63 S and has a number of differences in the design of the exterior and interior.
The GT 63 S Edition 1 was completed with the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which adds a large front splitter, an advanced aerodynamic diffuser and a manually adjustable rear spoiler. These elements reduce the coefficient of drag and increase the downforce, however, the manufacturer does not provide specific figures.
Other external variations of the Edition 1 are the matt gray AMG on the body, the gray bodywork of the Designo Graphite Magno, and the forged wheels with a combined color – matte black in combination with silver.
The interior design uses leather upholstery – gray Magma and black Nappa with a contrasting yellow stitch, also used on AMG Multicontour chairs. An AMG rudder with microfibre DINAMICA trim was installed using a contrasting yellow stitching, a 12-hour yellow marker and an Edition 1 badge. Nappa leather with a yellow stitching also trimmed the armrests, front panel and door panels. Still there is a carbon finish, yellow seat belts and special rugs.
Under the hood is a four-liter V8 Biturbo M178, the return of which in the stock version is 630 hp and 900 Nm. The engine is combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission AMG and 4Matic + all-wheel drive system. In this configuration, the car can accelerate to the first 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and to a top speed of 315 km / h.
The public premiere of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Edition 1 will take place at the ADAC Zurich 24h, which will take place at the Nurburgring next weekend. Receiving orders will start in the summer of this year, and deliveries will begin in September.
