Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 is almost ready for the premiere?March 26, 2019
Mercedes has not yet presented the usual version of the GLB crossover – it should happen this year, but the “charged” modification from Mercedes-AMG will appear in early 2020.
Once upon a time, the A-Class hatchback was the only compact car in the Mercedes-Benz model range. Now the situation is radically different, because now the same family includes the A-Class sedan, as well as its “stretched” version, designed for China. In addition, the compact segment of the German brand is represented by the B-Class subcompactun, the CLA coupe / CLA Shooting Brake universal and the GLA crossover. Pretty soon, the GLB square crossover will join them. This car will also be available in the “charged” versions of the AMG 35 and AMG 45.
As for the prototype of the German novelty, whose “spy” photos were published a couple of minutes ago, it seems that it has already received most of its serial body.
Most likely, the front bumper and grille will have much in common with those of the high-performance Mercedes-AMG A35, from which the sports crossover will inherit other features. Chunky wheels with huge brakes, dual exhaust pipe, as well as a lowered suspension say that this is not the usual version of the new product.
Under the hood, a “charged” crossover will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated for 302 horsepower (400 Nm of torque), which will be transmitted to the 4Matic four-wheel drive system via a seven-speed automatic transmission. Since the “charged” A35 hatchback takes 4.7 seconds to accelerate to a speed of 100 km / h, the GLB crossover with an index of 35 takes about 5 seconds. The maximum speed is likely to be electronically limited to 250 km / h.
