Mercedes-AMG E63 is preparing to upgradeJune 9, 2020
Mercedes introduced the restyled AMG E63 for final tests. The manufacturer has not announced the debut date of the new AMG E-Class lineup of 2021, but it should be presented within the next few weeks or months.
Back in March, Mercedes took off wrappers from the updated E-Class and AMG E53 2021 sedans of the model year. Both models have recently joined their new siblings in a convertible. But we continue to wait for another option that will complete the AMG E-Class 2021 line of the model year: we are talking about the Mercedes-AMG E63 and its various versions.
The Mercedes-AMG E63 2021 model year was supposed to be updated at the end of April, but the updated sedan has not yet made its debut, which should fuel public interest. There was very little to expect, as photo spies discovered a prototype restyled Mercedes-AMG E63, undergoing final tests. Most likely, this will be our last look at the AMG E63 prototype before the novelty officially appears on the covers.
The exterior of the E63 will be similar to the recently updated E53. The model will receive from the latter a similar Panamericana grille with vertical stripes, elegant LED headlights and taillights. Although the prototype design details are still masked, some photos have already leaked to the Web, showing off a redesigned bumper with larger front air intakes that make the E63 more aggressive than its brother E53.
Inside, it is expected that the updated Mercedes-AMG E63 will be equipped with the upgraded infotainment system MBUX and the new AMG Performance three-spoke steering wheel with a dual-zone sensor that determines whether the driver’s hands are on the steering wheel.
Like the previous model, the successor will be equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. In the current AMG E63 S, this unit produces 603 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, which is transmitted to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 48-volt hybrid EQ Boost hybrid system can add a few more “horses” to the upcoming model.
