McLaren will launch into the series one more “long-tailed” supercarJanuary 9, 2019
The novelty will be the fifth LT-model in the history of the British brand
The company McLaren has announced the release of the fifth LT-model, the production of which will last just a year. “Long-tailed” supercar will fully comply with the brand’s philosophy – more power, less weight, track orientation and limited accessibility.
The fifth McLaren LT will be released as part of the development strategy of Track25, according to which 18 vehicles will be developed by 2025: new models and variations of existing ones. Investment in production will amount to 1.2 billion pounds. The first cars of the Track25 were the Speedtail Super Hybrid and the open 720S Spider.
The first McLaren Longtail model is the F1 GTR LT introduced in 1997. Then the lineup was resurrected in 2015, releasing the 675-hp 675LT Coupé. Behind him appeared 675LT Spider, the entire circulation of which, 500 copies, bought up in two weeks. The fourth LT machine was the 600LT Coupé, which debuted last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 600LT is a lightweight and “charged” version of the 570S with a carbon fiber diffuser and a “short” Senna hypercar style exhaust system. The supercar is equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo “eight”, the power of which is increased from 570 to 600 forces, and the torque from 600 to 620 Nm.
The new model is likely to be an open modification of the 600LT supercar.
