McLaren will collaborate with the cycling teamDecember 12, 2018
The British company announced the creation of a joint venture between its technical division McLaren Applied Technologies and the professional cycle team Merida Pro Cycling Team from Bahrain.
McLaren acquired a 50% stake in the cycling team, which due to the new collaboration was renamed Team Bahrain Merida. Emphasis will be placed on technical issues, improved physical training of athletes and marketing partnerships.
It is reported that the signing of the agreement was possible after the expansion of the areas of interaction of investors from Bahrain, who are co-owners of a British company.
The company had previously had a relationship with cycling: collaborated with Specialized, (American manufacturer of racing bikes), and also provided support to UK athletes.
The company’s commercial director, John Allert, said that for some time they had been eyeing the possibility of cycling again. And now they are working shoulder to shoulder with Team Bahrain Merida, whose views on the future coincide with the skills and ambitions of McLaren.
“In the near future we will work hard because we are sure that some of the best athletes in the world are competing in professional cycling.”
