Australian firm Lumen Freedom revealed details of the McLaren Speedtail hybrid hypercar’s wireless charging system.
The Speedtail is the world’s first production car to rely solely on wireless charging. In addition to the charging unit, it uses a recuperation system to replenish the energy supply.
A wireless charging system is included with every Speedtail. It includes a charge receiver in the nose of the car, a wall module and a ground charging unit, which weighs 26 kg. The charging power can be varied from 3.3 to 7 kW, and the full charging time is 6 to 8 hours.
The McLaren Speedtail was shown the year before last. It has a powertrain with a 4.0-liter V8 and electric motors that produce a total of 1,036 hp. and allow the car to accelerate up to 403 km / h. The car accelerates to 300 km / h in 12.8 seconds.
A total of 106 vehicles were produced. All of them are sold at a cost of $ 2.25 million.
