Once the coupe is out of the race, McLaren will focus on the long-tailed sports car with a soft top. Lanzante casually revealed the upcoming McLaren 765LT Spider.

Famed for the creation of the McLaren F1 GTR, British racing team Lanzante has just announced a 25th anniversary series of models based on seven different McLaren models. The appearance of the McLaren 765LT Spider became known earlier, but it is surprising that it was shown even before the official premiere. Perhaps this suggests that the McLaren 765LT Spider is just around the corner.

“We’ll confirm this in due course, but yes, we have Spider in our current model plan. Current planning does not foresee the possibility of ordering Spider in 2020. Confirmation, product disclosure and order acceptance are pending and will depend to some extent on coupe assembly, ”explained Roger Ormischer, vice president of communications and PR for McLaren North America.

Simply put, McLaren has no way of building a Spider this year. Given the company’s recent economic woes, this is not surprising. According to Ormischer, we are talking about some stage in 2021. The exact circulation will not be specified until the car is actually put into production. Like its coupe sibling, the convertible is expected to be limited to just 765 pieces.

The 765LT Spider should use the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as the coupe, where it produces 755 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. As with other McLaren models, the appearance of a convertible version should have minimal impact on performance.
