McLaren 720S was faster than the manufacturer claimsApril 1, 2019
For McLaren 720S, the manufacturer declared a maximum speed of 341 km / h, and judging by the video that was posted, this figure can be 346 km / h.
British McLaren 720S, undoubtedly, is one of the fastest supercars of our time. Of course, it is not as fast as the French Bugatti Veyron or some kind of hypercar from the Swedish Koenigsegg, but it can still develop great speed.
One of the reasons why the 720S can rightly be called a fast and powerful supercar is in its 4.0-liter V8 engine with turbocharging.
This power plant can work wonders, and by miracles, I mean the production of 710 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque.
According to representatives of the company McLaren, model 720S can reach a top speed of 341 km / h, which definitely puts this car one of the fastest production models. The British supercar McLaren 720 can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 2.9 seconds – it’s even faster than the time it takes a traffic light to go from yellow to red. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km / h will take 7.8 seconds.
Nevertheless, it seems that the British brand all the time “lied” about the maximum speed of your car. In the video prepared by the guys from the Youtube channel Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, McLaren 720S managed to reach a maximum speed of 346 km / h.
It should be noted that the testing ground uses the Olympic Grade Tag Heuer laser traps and the GPS Garmin system for measuring speed, which explains the discrepancy between their readings and the vehicle’s speedometer. With that said, McLaren’s top speed may not be a lie after all. Perhaps it’s just a matter of discrepancy with the instruments used to measure speed.
