
Mazda3 sales started with a new engine
November 27, 2019Representatives of the Japanese brand announced the start of sales of the Mazda3 with the new Skyactiv-X engine.
Dealers expect the first Mazda3 saloon and hatchback saloon models on December 5, 2019. New Skyactiv-X engines with a unique SPCCI (Spark Plug Controlled Compression Ignition) ignition system, in which the ignition of a combustible mixture is carried out as a result of an increased pressure in the compression cycle, as in diesel engines, have already received new engines. This technology allows to improve the traction characteristics of the motor, increase its efficiency and reduce noise due to the encapsulation method.
The performance of the new 2.0-liter engine is estimated at 180 hp. and 224 Nm of torque. An internal combustion engine forms the basis of a “soft” hybrid installation, which includes a 6.5 hp AC synchronous electric motor. and a 24-volt lithium-ion battery.
At home, the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback with the Skyactiv-X engine are available in three trim levels, both with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. The sedan uses exclusively a 6-speed automatic transmission, and for the hatchback there are 6-speed manual transmissions or automatic transmissions.
