Mazda wants to use a rotary engine in a unique wayJanuary 22, 2018
In the world market there are no cars with rotary engines since 2012. Mazda is trying in every possible way to return this technology to reality with strict environmental requirements.
Japanese automotive manufacturer Mazda is trying to adapt the rotary engine to modern technologies. To its 100th anniversary in 2020, the company can apply it as an electricity generator for electric vehicles. This is reported by the publication Ward’s Auto, referring to Mazda President in North America Masahiro Moro.
It is already known about Mazda’s cooperation with Toyota, which will be embodied in deliveries of rotary engines for future roadless drones on the E-Palette platform. About this project, Toyota showed a video presentation at the international exhibition of consumer electronics CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
However, Mazda is considering another way of using rotary engines in modern cars with compliance with the tougher requirements for harmful emissions.
“We can create a very environmentally friendly motor. A rotary engine can be a generator of electricity in a car. Thus, we have many opportunities to use a rotary motor, ” – Masahiro Moro told the publication.
