Mazda revives BongoApril 24, 2019
This is done with the help of the Toyota Hiace model, in relation to which the new Bongo is rebounding. Offer petrol and diesel versions with two options for the length of the wheelbase.
The Mazda Bongo, popular for several decades, as well as its modifications, was removed from production a few years ago, and in the early 2010s, Mazda announced that it would no longer develop this model on its own, relying on rebedding. According to this scheme, the revival of the model will take place: the Bongo Brawny Van version will go on sale in Japan on May 13.
Bongo Brawny Van will be offered with two wheelbase length options. The maximum loading length will be 3 000 mm, and the carrying capacity reaches 1 000 – 1 250 kg, depending on the modification (in the presence of 3 people).
By analogy with Hiace, a line of power units is being formed. It has a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel. Both will be combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, but the petrol Bongo Brawny Van will have only rear-wheel drive, and diesel – only full.
The 2.0-liter gasoline engine develops power of 100 kW (134 hp) at 5,600 rpm and the highest torque of 182 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Fuel consumption in the test cycle JC08 declared at 9.6 l / 100 km.
The 2.8-turbo diesel has a power of 111 kW (149 hp) at 3,600 rpm and a torque of 300 Nm in the range of 1,000 – 3,400 rpm. Fuel consumption – 8.3 l / 100 km.
6-speed automatic with electronic control – in all versions. Four-wheel drive in diesel versions – with automatic connection using viscous coupling.
A number of active safety systems are available for the vehicle, incl. automatic braking.
The cost of a Mazda Bongo Brawny Van in Japan will be 2,421,360 – 3,594,240 yen.
