Japanese automaker Mazda is preparing to release symbolic for its line of crossovers novelty – a seven-seat version of the CX-5 crossover. However, along with this it was announced that future versions of charged CX-5, which could start revival of sub-brands MPS, is still questionable.
On Issue Mazda seven-seat version of its popular SUV Motoring said, citing the managing director of the Australian branch of the company. According to the newspaper, the model is in the final stages of development and can be presented in November – at an exhibition in Los Angeles. Technical information about the new product yet, but most likely, CX-5 with seven seats get increased wheelbase and thus preserve the old motor range.
The list of competitors have entered the new SUV Mitsubishi Outlander, which has not yet appeared in sales (excluding China), VW Tiguan Allspace and even Land Rover Discovery Sport.
According to some assumptions, engines gamma Mazda CX-5 could be extended 2.5-liter turbo engine, which is installed on a new generation of Mazda CX-9. The engine develops 253 hp and 420 Nm of torque. With this engine SUV could be called charged and get famous icon MPS. However, as stated in the company, if it happens, it is only after the change of generations CX-5, although the manufacturer until the idea is not going to give up.
The new generation SUV will be only after the completion of the new platform and a new generation SkyActiv engines with HCCI technology – ignition petrol engines with fuel mixture not of spark and compression (as in diesel engines). Accordingly, it will happen until early next decade.
