Mazda company will present the production version of the new model RX-9 in 2019 at the motor show in Tokyo. Therefore, the company will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the first car with a rotary engine. Two years later, in the same place production model will debut. Start sales are likely to be held in 2020 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Japanese company.
However, next year the company will introduce only a new prototype car. According to the Japanese edition of Japan’s Holiday Auto, manufacturer management already approved projects design and production plan of the new sports car. Judging by the SKYACTIV-R engine concept, the next generation of Mazda rotary engine will have a capacity of 1.6 liters and is likely to receive turbo technology.
The novelty will be the successor to the discontinued production RX-7 and RX-8. Rather, the model will be sold under the name RX-9. Design of the car will resemble the concept RX-VISION, which was presented at the motor show in Tokyo. At the same time the production version of the machine will be 200 mm shorter than the prototype, and new items will be 1400 kilograms of weight.
Coupe will be powered by the new rotary engine. The unit must solve three major problems of the previous motor: large oil and fuel consumption, low environmental friendliness and low torque in the medium speed range. According to unofficial data, the planned power of the engine – 450 horsepower.

Sports coupe got an aggressive front bumper, front spoiler, vented hood and a massive light alloy wheels. In addition, the machine is equipped with a rear diffuser and a double exhaust system. Coupe’s salon received a carbon fiber trim and sports leather seats.
