Mazda has named the successor to the crossover CX-5May 5, 2020
Not so long ago, a Japanese company announced the division of its lineup into two categories.
Japanese company Mazda is preparing a restructuring of its lineup. The first car was already presented earlier – it was the Mazda CX-30 crossover. On Tuesday, May 5, information appeared on the successor to the popular Mazda CX-5 cross. The entire lineup of the brand will be divided into two parts. The first will be called Small Architecture, which will include electric cars and small cars with a transverse engine. The second family will be called Large Architecture and will include large cars with a longitudinal arrangement of engines.
It is in the second category that there will be cars that will be designed to add luxury to the Japanese brand. The first car on the platform with rear-wheel drive will be the new generation of the Mazda 6 business sedan, which will be presented in 2022. Now the successor to the CX-5 crossover has become known – it will be a model called the Mazda CX-50, which has the classic layout of the power plant.
Most likely, the new CX-50 will outperform the CX-5 and become a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The motor range of the novelty will turn out to be very wide.
We note the presence of a 3.0-liter Skyactiv-X with a return of 285 hp, supplemented by a 48-volt starter-generator. The 3.3-liter diesel engine will receive the same power of 285 hp. The 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated Skyactiv-G engine will have 190 hp. and get in addition a starter generator. The turbocharged version of this engine will have a power of 230 hp. Finally. customers will be able to choose a crossover with a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a return of 190 hp. Most likely, the presentation of the new Mazda CX-30 will take place no earlier than 2023.
