Maserati is testing a new sports car camouflaged under Alfa Romeo 4CNovember 21, 2019
Maserati Corporation has distributed mule shots of the upcoming sports car. The model, which will debut in May 2020, will receive a new power unit of its development.
The published photographs capture a concept with aggregates from an as yet unexisting model of the Italian brand. The mule has a mid-engine layout, as indicated by the increased air intakes in the rear wings, and the body shape resembles the Alfa Romeo 4C.
Both companies are part of the FCA concern, for this reason the borrowing of the Alpha chassis is not surprising. At the back there is a certain new motor created by specialists of the Maserati Innovation Lab.
Most likely, the new engine will replace the “eight” Ferrari. Currently, they are equipped, for example, with the flagship Levante. But after a couple of years, the Italian brand will cease to ship units, since the profitability of this business has decreased. In the most productive variation, the V8 3.8 develops 580 hp (730 Nm).
In addition, previously Maserati said goodbye to the GranTurismo coupe, releasing a special variation of the model under the name Zéda.
