Maserati Ghibli will be the first hybrid of the brandJune 3, 2020
Maserati finally decided to enter the era of car electrification and will do so with its first hybrid car: Ghibli.
Despite the official nomenclature of the Ghibli Hybrid, it is most likely a hybrid model with a plug-in, as indicated in previous publications. The premiere of the car was to be held at the Beijing Auto Show in 2020, but since the event was postponed after the coronavirus pandemic, the novelty should appear at the end of this year.
“The natural world is full of moments when one spark turns into something new – the moment when hybridization acts as a catalyst for change, and diverging elements collide and unite; meet and mix; meet and develop; generating something better than before. From the same inspiration comes a completely new Ghibli hybrid: the first in a line of new cars at the forefront of a new era for the Maserati, ”said the Italian manufacturer.
And although Maserati did not say anything about this, it is known that the hybrid model will be released as the second part of the facelift of the executive sedan. Outside, the car will receive regular upgrades that will focus around the front and rear. Inside, a new infotainment system awaits with a large display and a fully digital dashboard. These touches, combined with new finishes, will probably make Ghibli feel more modern, which he really needs, given that the current generation has been available since 2013.
Other electrified models are located in the Maserati development halls. One of them will be a new SUV, which, obviously, should appear in the form of a 2021 model. The successors of Granturismo and Grancabrio should appear in 2021 and 2022, respectively, both will be offered exclusively as battery-electric models. Some electrification awaits and supercar MC20, the presentation of which was postponed to September.
