MAN is preparing a new electric minivan eTGE KombiOctober 5, 2019
Last year, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Traton introduced an electric van under the MAN eTGE brand based on the Volkswagen Crafter.
In the next few weeks, it will be joined by the passenger version, which will be called eTGE Kombi. This information was confirmed at the Scania technical center in Sweden during the Traton Innovation Days by a MAN representative who said that eTGE Kombi will be presented at World Bus 2019. The event, which will be held in the capital of Belgium, Brussels, will begin on October 17 for the international press and in a day for the public.
Not surprisingly, the eTGE Kombi will use the same “recipe” as the commercial version, namely the 136-hp electric motor, powered by a 35.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, combined with a 1-speed gearbox and front wheel drive. ETGE has a top speed of 90 km / h and has a range of up to 114 km in the WLTP test cycle. The Kombi version is expected to receive similar specs and offer space for 9 passengers with heated seats.
ETGE Kombi will not become a cheaper alternative to the Mercedes-Benz EQV, because it will not be available for private buyers, but exclusively for companies that will use it mainly as a shuttle bus. In the future, it may serve other purposes, as new battery variations are being considered.
