M-Sport continues to attempt to return Ott Tyanak from ToyotaAugust 29, 2019
M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson leaves no hope to lure Ott Tyanak from Toyota.
Despite four victories in the last five rallies and leadership in the championship with a margin of 33 points, the Estonian is still without a contract for the next season. Continuing to speak for Toyota is a priority option for him, but nevertheless, he is considering proposals from competitors.
Especially in the invitation of Tyanak, the M-Sport team is interested, for which he played six seasons before leaving Toyota in 2018. According to Wilson, a driver of such a high level will help the team in preparation for the transition to a new generation of cars in 2022, when hybrid technologies first appear in the world rally.
According to Motorsport News, in the days of the Rally Germany, Tyanak and his adviser Marco Martin met with the leadership of M-Sport.
“We are dealing with this issue and are considering many options,” Wilson answered the question about financing the deal with Tyanak. “But it’s obvious that without Ford we won’t build a car for 2022.” Let’s hope we find a way to get Ford more involved in the project. ”
At the end of 2012, Ford left the WRC. M-Sport still continues to perform with cars of the Blue Oval, but is engaged in their refinement on their own.
