Luxury minivan Changan Cosmos will challenge the Buick GL8November 1, 2018
Changan has released official photos of the second COS sub-brand model. The public premiere of the novelty may take place at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which will open in mid-November.
Changan announced the creation of the COS sub-brand under heaven in early 2018 – they will sell the best-equipped machines under it. The first-born was the seven-seater crossover COS 1 °, it entered the home market in mid-August. And soon the company SUV will be minivan, called Cosmos
So far, the manufacturer has revealed only the exterior of a monocab. The novelty has received sliding doors, a massive grille with a pattern in the form of diamonds, LED “boomerangs” for daytime running lights. The length of COS Cosmos is 4840 mm, the wheelbase is 2820 mm. On the platform minivan no information. Crossover COS 1 ° (length – 4830 mm, the distance between the axles – 2800 mm) is based on a stretched Changan CS75 platform with a rear multi-link suspension. It is possible that the van is built on the same platform.
Meanwhile, earlier, the Chinese photospies still managed to look into the Cosmos salon, however, the paparazzi caught a test copy – on the steering wheel of such a machine the Changan logo is installed, although COS has its own emblem. The minivan will be available in a seven-seater version, the seats are arranged according to the 2+2+3 scheme. The seats can be upholstered in white leather, the equipment list also includes a multimedia system with a large touch screen.
It is expected that COS Cosmos will offer a 1.56 power petrol “turbo” with a power of 156 hp, which is paired with a six-speed “mechanics” or a seven-speed robotic box with two clutches. The COS 1° SUV is also equipped with a 1.5T engine, but for an SUV, the engine produces 178 hp, and instead of a robotized transmission – 6-speed automatic.
The public premiere of the minivan can be held at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the exhibition will open to visitors on November 16th. The novelty will probably reach the dealers already this year. Outside the Middle Kingdom, Cosmos is not represented.
Chinese mass media consider the main competitors of COS Cosmos to be the Buick GL8 (the length of the new generation van is 5203 mm, the wheelbase is 3088 mm) and the GAC GM8 (5066 and 3000 mm), although Cosmos will probably be cheaper. Buick’s price of the latest generation – from 289,900 yuan, the GAC van will cost at least 176,800 yuan. By the way, the crossover COS 1°, despite its positioning as a “premium”, has a rather attractive price – from 93,800 yuan. Cosmos minivan in the “base” is also unlikely to be more expensive than 100,000 yuan.
Recall that in the Changan lineup there are several MPVs, but they all belong to the budget segment. One of the recent premieres – Linmax priced from 67,900 yuan
