Luxury Car Race: Rolls-Royce Wraith vs. Bentley Continental GTOctober 18, 2020
A video appeared on a foreign YouTube channel showing a race in a straight line against time, in which the luxurious British coupes Rolls-Royce Wraith and Bentley Continental GT took part.
When it comes to British Bentley or Rolls-Royce vehicles, these ultra-luxury vehicles are expected to be used for anything but drag racing. That didn’t stop the carwow YouTube team from taking the Bentley Continental GT W12 and Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge to the drag strip to see which one is the fastest.
The new Bentley Continental GT boasts a 6.0-liter W12 produced by the German VW Group, which produces 626 hp. (900 Nm).
That amount of horsepower is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that provides lightning-fast gear changes and boosts the dynamics of this massive coupe. The dual clutch is combined with an all-wheel drive system.
Its competitor is the Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge coupe. This blacked-out luxury coupe is powered by a massive 6.6-liter V12 engine from BMW that produces 624 horsepower and 820 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted via an 8-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The Wraith is based on the Ghost sedan, which shares a platform with the BMW 7-Series.
In this battle of performance, Bentley is the clear winner thanks to its powerful combination of all-wheel drive and fast dual-clutch transmission.
Not so long ago, we wrote about the race between the Honda Civic Type R and the VW Golf GTI TCR. A foreign YouTuBe channel captures a straight race between the high-performance Honda Civic Type R hatchbacks and the VW Golf GTI TCR. Both contenders for victory are equipped with engines of approximately the same power. The result of the race can be surprising.
