Lotus talked about Type 130 electric hypercarApril 16, 2019
Representatives of the British automaker told about the first completely new Lotus model since 2008. It is known that the electric hypercar, which so far is known as the Type 130, will receive at least 1000 hp. power and power reserve of 402 km.
After a teaser published last week, Lotus released a somewhat blurry sketch depicting the silhouette of its first all-new car. Type 130 is declared as the first all-electric British hypercar to be presented at the end of this year, then all the details about the new product will be known.
While a sketch of the teaser for the British novelty was published at the motor show currently taking place in Shanghai, the actual demonstration of the car will take place in London.
As for the name, “Type 130” is a tribute to several important models released by Lotus over the decades, starting with the legendary Type 14 (Elite) of 1957, which will go down in history as the world’s first composite monocoque.
Little is known about the new car, but Lotus CEO Phil Popham promises that he will be the “fastest growing Lotus” in history, and it will serve as a “turning point” for the brand, while simultaneously demonstrating the potential of the company.
The recent partnership of Lotus with the British company Williams Advanced Engineering may have something to do with the new Type 130. According to the agreement between them, the development of “advanced power plants” will be jointly conducted.
It is believed that the Lotus Type 130 will receive at least 1000 horsepower, as well as all-wheel drive system, while the battery pack can provide enough energy to cover a distance of 402 km.
