Lotus has announced new sports carsJanuary 25, 2021
Lotus on Monday, January 25, published a teaser showing three new items from the British brand.
The vehicles shown here have different designs for LED daytime running lights and most likely bumpers. Apparently, these cars will replace models such as Elise, Exige and Evora.
As reported by Autocar, the new series of sports cars is called Type 131. There are no specific details about the new products, but it is already known that they will receive a hybrid power unit based on a V6 gasoline engine. It is possible that we are talking about a gasoline engine from Toyota, which the British company has been using for a long time.
The production of new cars will start towards the end of this year, while there is no information on the date of the first deliveries. The new models are expected to be the last Lotus with internal combustion engines, while the total power plant output will exceed 500 hp. It is noted that the new items will be 2-seater cars with a fairly large trunk. Lotus says production of the Elise, Exige and Evora will reach 55,000 by the time the last cars roll off the assembly line later this year.
In addition, it was noted some time ago that Lotus and Alpine will jointly develop an all-electric sports car. It should be emphasized that the size of the new model can be comparable to the A110 or Evora.
