Lotus announces the release of a new car by 2020

A lot has happened to Lotus since it officially became part of the Chinese automotive giant Geely in 2017. The plans of the new leadership, for the future of the legendary British sports car manufacturer, have been slightly modified. It is known that Lotus will launch mass production in China, as evidenced by the huge investment of $ 1.3 billion.
Also, the development of a hypercar competing with the Aston Martin Valkyrie, by the way on this project, the guys from Lotus teamed up with the engineering company Williams.
In addition, now in the possible plans of the British brand is the creation of the first crossover in its history.
As part of his recent interview, new Lotus Cars CEO Phil Popham spoke about the new model of the brand – this is a sports car that will join the existing Evora, Elise and Exige.
Mr Popham said that the brand-new Lotus sports car is part of the brand’s five-year plan led by Geely. Hypercar will be based on the existing Lotus architecture and will retain the famous driving dynamics. However, it will be more practical and more suitable for everyday use.
At the same time, Popam confirmed that all future Lotus models will eventually be electrified, however now this is not a priority for the brand. “At the moment, the focus is on replacing our previous models with completely new ones, meaning sport models,” he said.
