New to take part in cross-country races

Ford introduced the racing version of the Ranger pickup to compete in the South African Country Cross Series (SACCS) rally. However, if previously the Ford Castrol Cross Country team competed in class T, then with the new Ranger it goes to the top FIA class. Three copies of the racing pickups will be ready by mid-2020.

In previous years, the racing Ranger was equipped with a five-liter “aspirated” V8 from Mustang. However, in the upcoming SACCS season, the pickup will receive a 3.5-liter EcoBoost Twin-Turbo V6 from the Ford GT and F-150 Raptor. Moreover, the engine is shifted to the center of the machine for better weight distribution along the axes.

The output of the unit is not specified, but, for example, it gives 450 horsepower and 692 Nm of torque to the Raptor, and for the GT it was boosted to 647 forces.

The novelty was designed by Neil Woolridge Motorsport (NWM). Among the features of the rally Ranger are a wider body compared to the standard model and improved aerodynamics. In addition, the pickup received a completely independent suspension, new shock absorbers, Brembo six-piston brakes and BF Goodrich KDR2 + tires.
