Super hybrid McLaren Speedtail leaves the building of the brand’s technical center
A video appeared on the Web, in which you can see how the McLaren Speedtail superhybrid under its own power leaves the building of the brand’s technical center in Woking, UK. Behind the wheel of a car, whose length is a little more than five meters, sits the senior designer of Mclaren Automotive Alex Alexeev.
Introduced in October, the Speedtail was the fastest and most aerodynamically efficient McLaren ever. Hypercar is equipped with a hybrid power plant based on the twin-tubro 4.0 V8, the total return of which is 1050 horsepower. From zero to 300 kilometers per hour, the Speedtail accelerates in 12.8 seconds. For comparison, the McLaren P1 takes 16.5 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 403 kilometers per hour.
One of the features of the Speedtail is the unique flexible ailerons made of flexible carbon fiber, seamlessly integrated into the body. At high speed, the two sections increase the stability of the hypercar, change the center of aerodynamic pressure, create additional downforce and act as an air brake. In addition to advanced aerodynamics, Speedtail got bodywork elements made of carbon fiber interspersed with titanium and interior parts made of TPT carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
