“Living like hermits”: Toto Wolff on Hamilton and Bottas after infection in a MercedesOctober 12, 2020
The executive director of the German Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, shared the realities of the team’s life on October 9 after two cases of coronavirus infection were discovered before the Eifel Grand Prix. Due to positive tests for COVID-19, six specialists were isolated at once.
The head of the German team said that in Brackli the team is constantly being tested. Tests were passed from Monday to Wednesday, and at that time there were no positive results. Already upon arrival in Germany, the texts were submitted again, and one person had a positive result.
Toto also noted:
“Of course, pilots are the most limited in their actions compared to other team members. This is not very good, because in fact you have to live like hermits, which they do. They stay at home, do not go out to dinner, do not intersect with other people from the team, as we do. Meetings are held in Zoom or Microsoft Teams, so the riders don’t sit in the same room with the engineers – they’re in their own room. “
The further development of events in the course of Formula 1 remains to be seen, and this time its results are influenced not only by the skill of the participants or the level of their professional training, but also by the general situation in the world.
