May 14, 2020Restomod built for over 13 years
On the Carmmunity page on the Facebook social network, a video appeared with the De Tomaso Pantera restomode. Judging by the description, work on the machine has been going on for more than 13 years, and now it has been equipped with a new exhaust system with an exhaust manifold 8-1.
The De Tomaso Pantera is driven by the racing version of the LS7 engine, i.e. the 7.0-liter V8 produced by General Motors, which was installed on the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Camaro Z / 28. In the “boxed” version, such a unit is configured to deliver 512 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque, but on the Panther its power may be greater. However, there is no information confirming this fact. It is only known that the coupe received an expanded body, individual throttle body and two-tone color.
The original De Tomaso Pantera was equipped with a Ford “aspirated” V8 5.8 Cleveland, developing 331 or 355 horsepower and 466 or 451 Nm of torque. Moreover, the engines of the “Blue Oval” remained faithful and the revived brand, which introduced the P72 retro supercar last year.
The mid-engined coupe got a 5.0-liter Roush Performance unit with a 90 degree camber angle; it is equipped with a specially designed dry sump lubrication system and a mechanical supercharger with four intersecting vanes – this design allows for better thermal efficiency, reduces noise and vibration.
