Lincoln revived the rumor of the return of “suicidal” doorsDecember 14, 2018
Lincoln revived the rumor about the appearance in the line of models with so-called “suicidal” doors, that is, opening against the course of the movement. They can get one of the modifications of the sedan Continental, photos of which the manufacturer showed at an annual meeting with dealers this spring.
The American brand tweeted a post with a story about a similar decision that was used on the Continental model in the 60s. In this case, instead of “suicidal” the term сenter-opening doors (central opening doors) was used. In addition, Lincoln asked subscribers to follow the updates on Instagram, where additional information will be posted.
It became known earlier that at the annual meeting of Lincoln dealers, he showed photos of the new Continental modification with “suicidal” doors and spoke about plans to bring it to the market. However, the exact timing of the appearance of such a machine and more detailed information is still not available. In addition, it is not clear, there will be “suicidal” doors for the model of the current generation or the next one.
The Continental model was revived in 2016 as a replacement for the then MKS. The tenth generation sedan is built on the Ford Mondeo platform. On the American market, Continental is available with twin-turbo engines of 2.7 and 3.0 liters EcoBoost family, as well as atmospheric Cyclone V6 3.7. Engine returns are 340, 406 and 309 horsepower, respectively.
