Lincoln is going to abandon the crossover NautilusAugust 21, 2020
The crossover may face the same fate that awaits its sister model Ford Edge. Both SUVs can become victims of lineup optimization.
Earlier, specialized media reported that Ford may abandon production of the midsize crossover Edge by 2023.
Now there is information that a similar fate awaits the Lincoln Nautilus. The reason Ford wants to discontinue SUVs is on the surface: the brand has other models in high demand. These are Escape and Explorer. Now the revived Bronco SUV and its special version Bronco Sport have entered the market. So the chances for the Ford Edge to win are slim.
As for Nautilus, the foreign press writes that its production at the Canadian Oakville plant is going to be curtailed in the summer of 2024. At the same time, it is noted that Edge and Nautilus still have a chance to stay in the North American market if there is a demand for them.
The second reason why these two American crossovers can become history is called electrification. So, Lincoln does not lose hope and is going to release an all-electric SUV, which in its dimensions would repeat the Nautilus.
