Lincoln and Rivian teamed up to create a new electric crossoverJanuary 30, 2020
New details have emerged regarding Lincoln’s future partnership under the wing of Ford and the promising Rivian electromobile startup.
We already wrote about the fact that Rivian is going to help Ford with a platform for its new electric car by offering them its unique “skateboard” (a special type of platform for electric cars). Now, more information about this alliance has appeared in the specialized media. It is reported that the project will be financed as part of Ford’s investment in Rivian, which are part of Ford’s plans to electrify its model line. This includes, for example, the production of Mustang Mach-E and the electric modification of the F-150 pickup. Recall that the Americans did not spare over $ 11.5 billion for these purposes.
Little is known about the future electric car. The other day, Rivian CEO Erjey Skarinzh said that the new product will be different from their SUV. At the same time, he described the new electric car as “impressive”.
The fact that an environmentally friendly new product will join the ranks of crossovers has not been officially announced anywhere. However, in recent years, Lincoln has been actively developing this segment: the brand has offered customers four new SUVs at once, including Aviator, Corsair and Navigator. All this brought brand sales to “plus”. In general, a new joint project by car manufacturers will be based on advanced and intuitive technologies.
