Lexus RX crossover could get Lexus LC engineOctober 16, 2020
A new patent, filed by the Japanese automaker with the European Trademark Office, suggests a special Lexus RX crossover is coming soon.
The Lexus RX lineup currently includes one of the company’s first hybrid SUVs, the RX450h, but as impressive as this stylish luxury vehicle is, Lexus is known for updating its vehicles with special editions to make them even better. Recently, information has surfaced on the web pointing to a patent for the new RX450h +, which likely means it is a plug-in variant of the popular hybrid. Now there is another, more interesting patent for the RX line.
The new document refers to a new model called the RX500h. One theory is that this model will replace the conventional RX450h crossover, but an earlier patent suggests the 450h will continue to exist. Another theory is that the RX500h will offer similar output as the LS500h. If this is the case, then the current RX (308bhp) power will increase to a much more pleasant 354bhp and the RX500h will finally come out of its 7-second acceleration time to 100km / h.
It’s worth noting that for the top of the line, the RX Hybrid has a not-so-impressive top speed of 180 km / h. Perhaps the power boost will help improve the SUV’s already impressive towing ability. For reference, the current model can tow 1,588 kg.
