Lexus postponed the presentation of the new Lexus IS indefinitelyJune 10, 2020
The new Lexus IS sports sedan was due to debut on June 10, but Lexus decided to postpone the presentation indefinitely. Lexus refers to the “current global situation” as a reason for the postponement.
The other day, the American Lexus office introduced a teaser for the new IS and announced the date of debut. The sedan was supposed to be presented on June 10, at two in the morning, Moscow time. However, the company decided to postpone this event indefinitely.
“Given the recent global situation, Lexus has postponed the premiere of the new IS, which was originally scheduled for 8:00 Japanese time June 10th. The revised deadlines will be announced in the near future.
Western publications believe that the new Lexus IS will retain the “cart” of its predecessor, and not switch to TNGA architecture. For the sake of handling, the chassis is being seriously upgraded, and the final refinement was first decided to be carried out on the Toyota Shimoyama – the Japanese copy of the Nurburgring.
In the IS motor range will be the previous 2.0-liter “turbo four” with a capacity of 245 hp (350 Nm), and for the IS 350, a 315-strong (380 Nm) atmospheric V6 with a volume of 3.5 liters will be used. As for the IS 500 modification, there are different options: it is believed that such a sedan can be equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 from the flagship LS 500, a five-liter atmospheric “eight” or a new 4.0-liter eight-cylinder unit, which is tested on a racing coupe LC.
Meanwhile, the exterior of the fourth-generation Lexus IS should be less controversial. The company decided to remove the V-shaped daytime running lights, and make the silhouette more swift. On the teaser, it is noticeable that the sedan will also receive lanterns with a pattern in the shape of arrows, combined by a curved luminous strip.
