Lexus may be an alternative to Toyota Land CruiserAugust 21, 2019
At the moment, management is thinking about stopping sales of the legendary SUV.
In 2018, Toyota Motor North America CEO Jim Lenz said that the carmaker carefully analyzes all segments in which competition is ongoing in order to understand how profitable the sale of a car is.
At the moment, almost nothing is known about the research results, however, most likely, Toyota will stop selling models for which there is no high demand. This includes the Land Cruiser SUV – at least, this applies to the United States. No one has confirmed this information in official sources, but Motor Trend’s Johnny Lieberman in his Instagram account said that after 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser will no longer be in the American car market.
The press service of the manufacturer said that at the moment the decision to stop sales was not made. At the same time, such a statement can be interpreted as a sign that Land Cruiser will still remain on the market.
Despite everything, it’s not difficult to guess why they want to remove the SUV from sale. So, last year, dealers in the United States sold a little more than three thousand units of cars. The explanation for the small amount of sales is the too high cost of the Land Cruiser. It starts with about 85 thousand dollars.
As for the Lexus LX 570, its price starts at 86 thousand dollars. Although it is similar to Land Cruiser, about 4,700 cars were sold over the past year.
