The company Lexus introduced a serial version of the compact crossover UX, which will be the smallest SUV in the line of the Japanese brand. The premiere of the novelty took place in the framework of the Geneva Motor Show.

The overall length of the new Lexus UX was 4 495 mm, width – 1840 mm, and height – 1520 mm. The wheelbase is 2640 millimeters in size. The radius of the turn is 5.2 meters. Crossover was the first model in the history of Lexus, built on a completely new platform GA-C. This chassis provides the “lowest” class in the class of gravity and “better handling”.

Lexus UX borrowed some stylistic elements from the eponymous concept car presented in 2016. The peculiarity of the serial crossover was the unique rear lights connected by a line containing at least 120 separate LED elements.

The interior is made with “a hint of traditional Japanese culture.” The salon can be trimmed with a special stitching technique in Sashiko embroidery technique, which is used in the manufacture of suits and outfits for judo and kendo fencing art.

The base version of the crossover (Lexus UX200) will be offered with a new two-liter petrol engine rated at 170 hp, working in tandem with the Lexus self-developed variator, the first continuously variable transmission in the history of the brand.

In addition, customers will be offered a modification with a hybrid power plant, which will include a two-liter engine, a compact electric motor, a nickel-metal hydride battery and a variator. In total, the aggregates produce 178 horsepower.

Such a car has an all-wheel drive transmission, which automatically distributes power between the two axles. At speeds of up to 70 km / h, if there is a loss of grip on the road, an electric motor is connected to the rear axle, so that up to 80% of the torque can be applied to the rear wheels.

Finally, the Lexus UX will receive the F Sport package, which will differ from the standard versions with more aggressive design, retuned suspension and mechatronic chassis with active roll suppression system.

Sales of the new Lexus UX, which will compete with Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, BMW X1 / X2 and Infiniti QX30, will start before the end of this year. Prices for the crossover will be announced later.
