Lexus increased global sales for the yearFebruary 3, 2020
The Japanese company is not going to stop there. The brand plans to create a luxurious line of electric vehicles.
Last year, Lexus dealers worldwide sold 765,330 vehicles, indicating a 10 percent increase in demand. The company managed to achieve positive dynamics through sales of premium models with UX, ES and RX indices, as well as a growing interest of Chinese motorists in luxury cars, the press service of the Japanese brand said. The highest sales of Lexus models in 2019 were recorded in North America. Here, local motorists acquired 325,000 copies. This is followed by China, where cars of this brand sold in the amount of 202,000 units (a 25 percent increase in demand). Europe is in third place: the inhabitants of the Old World purchased about 87,000 of these machines.
The fourth place goes to Japan – 62,000 units (+ 13%), and the next two places are shared by Central and East Asia, which showed the same 8 percent sales growth – 32,000 and 34,000 cars, respectively.
In order not only to maintain the gained positions, but also to improve their brand, it is going to take up the electrification of its lineup. The first production model under the new strategy will be the Lexus UX 300e electric car.
