Lexus has patented a new version of the next-generation IS sedanJuly 2, 2020
Japanese premium brand registered a new brand name IS500. It is expected that this is the most powerful version of the next generation IS sedan, which will receive a powerful V8 engine.
Toyota has filed applications for the registration of IS500 trademarks in the United States and Canada, confirming earlier rumors that the new generation Lexus IS sports sedan will receive a version with V8. The automaker filed applications in both countries on June 25, 2020. So far, nothing has been reported about them – information about them has appeared on foreign forums.
The rumor about the most powerful performance of the new Lexus IS, which will receive a powerful V8 engine, first appeared on the page of one foreign publication on the social network Instagram.
It claims that the IS500 uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine from a 472 horsepower RC-F high-performance coupe. It is also assumed that Lexus plans to give the car a wider front and rear track for a more aggressive stance on the road and better handling.
Sedan Lexus IS 2021 model year is built on the same platform as its predecessor, the engine range will be transferred unchanged. The novelty will become 3.05 cm longer, 3.05 cm wider and 0.51 cm lower. The overhauled suspension has lighter components for A-arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar.
While the regular Lexus IS should go on sale before the end of the year, the IS500 is unlikely to go on sale before the 2022 model year 2021 of the actual one.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the new version of the “charged” coupe Lexus LC F may never appear. According to unofficial reports, the Japanese premium automaker decided to postpone the creation of a new version of its high-performance coupe Lexus LC F.
